Why They Joined the “Dream Team”

When I was growing up, there was a girl with Down syndrome a few doors down. Later, I babysat a boy who was severely autistic. It gave me an appreciation for their special needs.
Fast forward to living in Chicago: My friend Marty Kenahan told me about her job at Envision and the property donated for the CILA. I was thrilled to volunteer something for which I was uniquely qualified: providing the preliminary design! I shared my vision with Johnson Lasky Kindelin, and they became the architect of record. I still volunteer my time to this project, and continue to bring new partners onto "The Dream Team" to get it built!
I can hardly wait for the ribbon cutting!

Our project management firm has worked with numerous nonprofit organizations, but this ADA-compliant home project really hits home. My sister is being supported in one of Envision Unlimited’s Community Integrated Living Arrangements (CILA). She has been a member for more than 40 years.

accessible living facility for these amazing seniors a reality.

Kristen and I are honored to play a small part in Envision Unlimited’s big project to build a truly one-of-a-kind, fully ADA compliant home that will meet the needs of its residents for years to come.

All my life, through cousins and neighbors, I’ve come to know just how wonderful people living with I/DD are. Answering the request to help to create a home where they can live their best lives was an easy and immediate “Yes”!

We have been proud to support the construction of this home as a special group home serving the needs of those with greater physical limitations. Many times these are the individuals left out of housing opportunities.
We believe this project will stand out as a model for future homes or rehabs for individuals with disabilities.

Environmental Design International, inc. (EDI) is honored to support Envision Unlimited and their efforts to provide this Special Group Home for seniors. We are excited about participating in the Envision project and having this opportunity to give back to our community and the great people of the Chicagoland area.

At Walter E. Smithe Furniture & Design, we believe that everyone should have a comfortable place to call home and we are honored to be a part in the building of this extra special home.

All of us at Cumming are delighted to have played a role in this worthy cause. While providing estimating services for the project, we were not only exposed to the work of Envision Unlimited, which inspired our entire Chicago team, but worked together with some amazing consultants to help bring this project to life.
